What is a uAccount
uAccount is Blue’s youth banking account designed for members from birth through age 24. It helps young members build smart financial habits with simple, accessible banking tools that grow with them through every stage of life.
Who can open a uAccount?
uAccount is available for young members ages 0–24. For children younger than 18, a parent or legal guardian will need to help open and manage the account.
What do I need to open a uAccount
To open an account for a minor we will need:
- the parent or legal guardian of the minor to be on the account
- minor’s birth certificate
- social security card
If the minor is adopted we will also need records showing proof of guardianship in addition to everything listed above
Does uAccount include digital banking access?
Yes. Eligible account holders can access Blue’s digital banking tools to monitor balances, track spending, and manage their money anytime, helping them build strong financial habits wherever life takes them.
What are the features of an uAccount?
Dividends: This checking account does not earn dividends.
Statements: Must have e-statements
ATM Refunds: None
Courtesy Pay: These accounts are not eligible for Courtesy Pay
Smart Cents: Eligible
Note: U-accounts cannot have Courtesy Pay, but that doesn’t mean they can’t be overdrawn. Example: The youth member has set up recurring debit card transactions are required to go through, in which case we charge an Overdrawn fee if the funds are not available.
