Blue's story of growth and impact over the last 75 years.
The Beginning
Celebrating over 75 years of being a lifelong champion for its members, Blue Federal Credit Union was originally chartered in 1951 as Warren Federal Credit Union by a group of civilian personnel at F.E. Warren Air Force Base. Over the next 75 years, the organization grew until an opportunity arose to merge with a successful Colorado-based credit union, Community Financial Credit Union, which had nearly 50 years of its own history and growth. In 2016, the two credit unions came together to form Blue.
Continued Growth
In 2020, Blue experienced another opportunity for growth by acquiring two branches previously operated by Liberty Savings Bank. The following year, in 2021, Blue celebrated a landmark achievement by opening its World Headquarters in the heart of Cheyenne, heralding a new phase of expansion and innovation.
Expanding Our Reach
Continuing its expansion, in 2024, Blue joined forces with Aventa Credit Union, an institution rooted in Colorado Springs since its inception in 1957 by the Colorado Springs Utilities Department. This union enhanced Blue's connections and legacy within the community, strengthening its regional footprint.

Blue is an organization that empowers its members to tap into the potential of their money, life, and community. As a creator of authentic connections, Blue experienced rapid growth, with members joining from throughout Colorado, Wyoming, and the world.
Blue Now
Blue currently has over 142,000 members worldwide, over 25 physical locations, and more than $2.17 billion in assets. Blue also continues to foster relationships as a community connector with local organizations that have been essential to the organization's growth throughout the years.

Whether members are saving for a car, a house, retirement, or investing back in their neighborhood, Blue lights the way to make dreams a reality. A Legacy of Service Since 1951
In 1951, a group of civilian personnel at F.E. Warren Air Force Base came together with a simple idea: people helping people. That idea became Warren Federal Credit Union—and the foundation of everything Blue is today.
Growing Possibility, Together
Over the decades, Blue evolved from its military roots into a growing regional financial partner, guided by opportunity, innovation, and community connection.
A defining moment came in 2016, when Warren Federal Credit Union merged with Colorado-based Community Financial Credit Union to form Blue—expanding its reach and setting the foundation for future growth.
That momentum continued with the 2020 acquisition of Liberty Savings Bank branches and the opening of Blue’s World Headquarters in Cheyenne in 2021—marking a new era of scale and collaboration.
In 2024, Blue joined forces with Aventa Credit Union, further strengthening its presence in Colorado and deepening its commitment to the communities it serves.

The Blue Foundation is an independent 501(c)(3) nonprofit charitable organization founded to champion, fund and celebrate local nonprofit causes that keep our community and people strong, financially stable and healthy.
Opened in 2024, The Boost Center by Blue, located in Cheyenne, Wyoming is where we join hands with trusted non-profits, to focus on helping people find secure housing, empowering educational growth, and opening doors to new economic possibilities. We offer guidance and support as they build a path to lasting financial independence.
On Blue’s mission to empowering our members with financial literacy- Blue University was founded. There are currently eight courses offered such as: Your First Home: What You Need to Know to Debt Consolidation, Fraud Shield, Smart Credit courses, and Smart Money Skills: Budgeting. All courses are free, online, and at your own pace-making it accessible to anyone and everyone.
