The Boost Center: One Year of Empowering Pathways to Possibility

What makes the Boost Center unique is not only what happens inside its walls — it’s how it activates the entire community around one individual.

The Boost Center: One Year of Empowering Pathways to Possibility

One year ago, the Boost Center opened its doors in Cheyenne with a simple but profound purpose — to be a place where help feels human, hope feels possible, and no one has to navigate the hard seasons of life alone. Since that day, more than 500 people have walked through those doors carrying different stories but seeking the same things: stability, clarity, and a fresh start.

More Than Numbers — A Year of Real Impact

Over the past twelve months, residents have come to the Boost Center for help with housing, utilities, job loss, medical needs, childcare, food insecurity, and financial obstacles. Housing and utility needs made up the largest share (30.7%), followed by financial support (12.8%), transportation, employment, and healthcare concerns.

But the numbers alone don’t define the Boost Center’s first year — the relationships do.

At the heart of the Center is a team that listens first. The executive director and resource navigator sit shoulder-to-shoulder with visitors, not across a desk. Volunteer financial coaches from Blue Federal Credit Union offer long-term support through ongoing sessions on budgeting, credit recovery, debt management, and confidence with money.

Matthew’s Story: What Happens When Community Shows Up

When Matthew arrived last November, he was unemployed, behind on rent, and worried about losing his apartment where his two children lived part-time. What he found at the Boost Center wasn’t a pamphlet — it was people.

With referrals to Recover Wyoming and Family Promise, Matthew secured rent assistance and began working delivery jobs to stabilize income. He entered workforce training, underwent back surgery with coordinated support, and continued check-ins at the Center throughout recovery.

Today, he is steadily employed, has rebuilt savings, secured stable housing for his family, and is working toward purchasing a home within the year.

“He’s even started a savings account he’s incredibly proud of,” shared Laura Fowler. “It’s more than just money — it’s the start of a new chapter.”

When Systems Work Together, People Don’t Fall Through the Gaps

What makes the Boost Center unique is not only what happens inside its walls — it’s how it activates the entire community around one individual. The Center partners with dozens of local nonprofits, healthcare systems, employment programs, schools, veteran services, and service agencies to streamline care without requiring individuals to navigate the system alone.

“Every person who walks through our doors is met with dignity and possibility,” said Laura. “We’re not just offering resources — we’re building relationships that empower long-term change.”

Looking Ahead: More Hands, More Hope

In year two, the Boost Center will deepen financial coaching, broaden partnerships, and begin launching a “Champion/Hero” mentor model — where people who have walked the journey return to walk beside someone new.

Because transformation is not a transaction — it’s a relationship.
