Doing good at Blue is just a way of life
You may have seen a thing or two about our Tax Relief Care Package efforts over the last few weeks. Our team of 265 associates have set out to bring some joy to local accounting firms during this crazy time of year. With an arm full of goodies, it’s been a delight to see faces light up when Blue walks into their buildings. So far, we've delivered hundreds of packages to dozens of firms throughout the regions. You may also be wondering, ‘why would Blue do something like this?’
It’s really simple: we’re the Do Gooders!
While Blue has been known for doing good and changing lives for decades, we actually put a name to it a few years ago when we launched our first ever Do Gooders Unite campaign in Laramie, Wyoming. Unlike a lot of banks out there, we genuinely exist to improve the lives of our members, staff and community. During that first push to spread the word in Laramie, we had no idea the ripple effect that would take place across Wyoming and then later into our Colorado markets with this unique message. These one-of-a-kind membership drives help us continue to grow, while giving new members in our targeted areas $100 to go out and do good. No strings. No catches. We literally give them a hundred bucks after opening a checking account so they can pay it forward. On top of that, once we reach our goal, we donate a HUGE amount of money back to a local organization who shares in our mission to improve infrastructure, trails and more.
Through our Foundation, Blue gives back over $200,000 each year. The arm of our Do Gooders Unite membership drives have also made significant impact in the communities we serve, including:
- Laramie Main Street Alliance
2014 - $10,000 donation to support a local mural project
- Wellington Main Streets Program
2016 - $10,000 donation to install downtown bike racks and seasonal banners
- Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority
2017 - $20,000 donation to jump start installation of tiered bike racks throughout Old Town
- Wildlands Restoration Volunteers
2018 - $16,000 to help gain new grants for trails, wetlands and wildland improvement efforts
In the next couple of weeks, we’ll be launching our fifth Do Gooders Unite membership drive to help out our newest community on the Blue roster – Lafayette, Colorado. Our goal is to gain 300 new members before June 2019. When we do, we’ll donate $10,000 to our friends at WOW! Children’s Museum who have plans to use their funds to create a mural for all of the community to enjoy.
