Blue Federal Credit Union is committed to serving those who help serve us. That’s why we are honored to have been awarded a plaque from the City of Fort Collins Police Department in recognition of our support of their 2017 Police Unity Tour ride.

The tour is a 300-mile bicycle ride each May from Florham Park, New Jersey to the National Law Enforcement Officers Memorial in Washington, D.C. The tour aims to raise awareness about the number of officers killed every year and to raise money for the fallen officer’s memorial and museum.

This month, members of the Colorado Law Enforcement community will once again ride to remember fallen friends and law enforcement heroes.

The City of Fort Collins employs 336 officers and civilian staff in the community.

“Blue Federal Credit Union is proud to support our men and women of the Fort Collins Police Department and their ride in honor of their fallen colleagues,” Vice President of Marketing Michele Bolkovatz said. “We are grateful for their commitment and sacrifice for our community and stand by them as they continue to serve and protect us.”

In May 1997, the first Police Unity Tour was organized, by Officer Patrick P. Montuore of the Florham Park Police Department, with the hope of bringing public awareness of Police Officers who have died in the line of duty and to honor their sacrifices. The event started with 18 riders on a four day fund-raising bicycle ride and has grown into nine chapters consisting of nearly 2,500 members nationwide who make the trip annually. The Tour has donated more than $23 million to date.
