Blue Foundation funds double-tier bike racks in downtown Fort Collins
As part of the 2016 Do Good campaign the Blue Federal Credit Union Foundation pledged to donate $20,000 to the Fort Collins Downtown Development Authority when we opened 300 new checking accounts. Upon reaching this goal, the DDA purchased four double-tier bike racks which can hold up to 16 bikes. These new and unique racks were designed and manufactured by VelopA B.V., a Netherlands-based company, and were recently installed in Tenny Court Alley near the Blue Federal Credit Union branch on W. Mountain Avenue. Whereas traditional racks accommodate eight bicycles, the new rack stores twice the amount to help cater to the increasing demand for bicycle parking in Old Town Fort Collins where space is limited.
In addition to the Fort Collins’ donation, the Blue Foundation also contributed $10,000 to the Wellington Main Streets Program from the same campaign. Wellington recently installed new artisan-style bike racks and downtown wayfinding as a result of the credit union’s gift.
“Blue Federal Credit Union is committed to the communities we serve and we continually look for ways to invest where our members live, work and play,” said Michele Bolkovatz, Blue’s Vice President of Marketing. “The Do Gooders campaign is a great way for the community and Blue to join together.”
