Blue CEO and President

Our CEO and President since 2005 and a catalyst for improving community financial services in our region, Stephanie has led Blue through significant growth over the last decade.

Stephanie Teubner is a successful credit union and community leader who dedicated her time and talent to the credit union movement and community she calls home, Cheyenne, Wyoming.

Stephanie has led Blue Federal Credit Union over the past 21 years. As the largest financial institution headquartered in Wyoming, Blue has more than $1.8 billion in assets, serves over 110,000 members worldwide and has 19 branch locations in Wyoming and Northern Colorado.

Stephanie believes in ‘Doing Good’ and leads by example. As a civic-minded leader, she serves on a variety of boards, including the Wyoming Children’s Society, Credit Union National Association, Centennial Lending Board of Managers, and Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) Board of Trustees. Stephanie is a Development Educator with the National Credit Union Foundation and a Certified Executive with the Credit Union Executives Society (CUES).

Stephanie holds an Executive MBA and a Bachelor’s in Business Management and Finance from the University of Wyoming.

Stephanie enjoys spending time and being active with her two sons, Jack (21) and Josh (16). Stephanie loves new adventures including traveling, skiing, camping, hiking, scuba diving and almost anything outdoors. Stephanie loves to run and has participated in numerous races throughout the United States.

GREGORY J. MILLS

Chief of Staff / EVP

Greg Mills has devoted nearly 40 years in the financial service industry. He has spent the last 26 years in service to the membership of Aventa Credit Union as CEO. He is a successful credit union leader who has dedicated his entire career to the credit union movement.

Greg has served on a variety of boards, including GoWest Credit Union Association, Mountain West Credit Union Association, VisiFi Data Company, Recovery Management Group (RMG), Aventa Foundation, and Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) Alumni Association Board. Greg has also served on State National Companies and Client Advisory Council (CAC).

His educational studies are in Business Administration and Management at the University of Colorado, Colorado Springs. Greg is also a graduate of Western CUNA Management School (WCMS).

Greg enjoys spending time with his wife and two dogs on his farm. Greg has four children and more importantly four grandchildren. Greg is an avid Upland Hunter, loves golfing, and is a student and fan of soccer.

 

Kim Alexander, M.S.

Chief Strategy and Growth Officer

Kim joined the team as Chief Financial Officer in 2006, serving for over 15 years in this role managing Blue’s financial strategy, data analytics, risk/compliance, and administration functions. In 2021, Kim moved to the Chief Strategy and Growth Officer role. This role is focused on the development and implementation of strategic initiatives as well as credit union growth. Within the Strategy Team, Kim oversees: Marketing, Membership/Community Relations and the Office of Project Management.

Kim is a native of Laramie, Wyoming. Prior leadership roles include working for Motorola, Deluxe Corporation, and Cheyenne Frontier Days. Kim is a Certified Public Accountant with a B.S. in Accounting from Chadron State College and a M.S. in Organizational Leadership from Colorado State University Online Campus. Kim serves on the Board of Cheyenne Leads and is a member of the CUNA Mutual Group Product Innovation Research group.

Kim keeps active as an avid runner and outdoor enthusiast. Hiking, camping, skiing (water & snow), as well as golfing are common happenings in Kim’s world. Her husband and daughter are both teachers in Cheyenne. Son, Kyle, is a University of Wyoming & Culinary Institute of America graduate, currently pursuing a career as a Chef.

Jason Buchanan, MBA

Chief Credit and Risk Officer

Jason Buchanan has worked over the last twenty years within Credit and Risk Management at financial institutions of increasing size and complexity — most recently serving as the Head of Operational, Data, Technology, Cybersecurity, and Fraud Risk at BBVA USA.

He received his Undergraduate and Master of Business Administration degrees from Dallas Baptist University and has remained active in both non-profit and faith-based organizations. When they lived in Baytown, TX, he and his wife, Hope, founded a non-profit organization which funded micro-grants for individuals and groups who wouldn’t otherwise be able to obtain funding.

Jason is a technologist at heart, blending the disciplines of risk management with process improvement and technology as needed. His prior responsibilities have included Commercial Credit Decision Engines, Portfolio and Asset Allocations, Operational Risk Management, Credit Analysis, and Portfolio Management & Underwriting Systems.

Jason and his wife, Hope, have five children. Hope is an artist and enjoys leading their neighborhood Bible study. In his spare time, Jason enjoys writing music and reading. Their youngest son Tanner is fifteen years old and joins them on the journey to Cheyenne. With autism, he overflows with joy and energy; a blessing to everyone he meets.

Melissa Hanes, M.A.

Chief People Officer

Mel is a 17-year veteran of Blue, having served as the VP of Human Resources for the last four years. Originally from Nashville, TN, Mel and her family have lived in Wyoming since 1993.

She and her husband love attending University of Wyoming football games, golfing and recently have taken up scuba diving. Holding an M.A. in Communication and Leadership, Mel leads the human resource, learning & development, and culture teams at Blue in coaching and developing staff, making genuine connections and ensuring an amazing workplace culture. Her daily goal is to make a difference to at least one person a day.

Kent Richard, MBA

Chief Information Officer

Kent joined the Blue team in 2017 and now serves as the Chief Information Officer. Kent is responsible for the strategic direction and daily operation of the Information Technology department, Digital Innovation department, and Project Management resources. Kent’s teams oversee IT infrastructure, networking, security, programming and development, project management, and mobile and online digital channels.

Prior to coming to Blue, Kent has worked the past 20 years in the credit union Information Technology field. Most recently, Kent served as the President/CEO of TriCUE, Inc. and CUProdigy Coud LLC., both technology and digital innovation CUSO’s. Kent’s passion is truly the credit union industry and serving the mission of ‘people helping people’. Currently, Kent serves on the Rocky Mountain Chapter of Credit Unions board of directors which promotes financial literacy and professional development throughout the Colorado and Wyoming region. Kent holds a BS and MBA from Colorado State University. Kent is married with two children and enjoys camping, fishing, and hiking throughout the Rocky Mountain region.

Matt Vignale, MBA

Chief Retail & Member Experience Officer

Matt Vignale joined Blue in 2021 and serves as the Chief Retail and Member Experience Officer, overseeing the branches, financial services, mortgages, commercial lending and member experience.

Matt has been in the financial industry since 2003 with experience in both banks and credit unions. Prior to his current role, Matt served as the Vice President of Retail Delivery at Wings Financial Credit Union based out of Minnesota.

Matt earned both his MBA and Bachelor’s in Business Management from John Carroll University. Matt is also a graduate of Western CUNA Management School (WCMS) and is in the final year of CUES CEO Institute.

Matt currently resides in Northern Colorado with his wife and 5 daughters. Matt enjoys being active and outdoors, he enjoys running, hiking, skiing, traveling, and watching his daughters participating in youth sports.

Neal Weber

Chief Financial Officer

Neal Weber joined Blue in 2012 and now serves as Chief Financial Officer, overseeing financial strategy, accounting and finance, data analytics, corporate assets, and deposit & loan operations.

Prior to his current role, Neal was an experienced financial analyst for the credit union before moving into management roles and eventually serving as Vice President of Finance for over five years. Neal is committed to serving the community he loves, and currently volunteers on several non-profit boards, including for the COMEA Shelter as well as holding the position of board treasurer for STRIDE Learning Center.

A native of Wheatland, Wyoming, Neal is a Certified Management Accountant and University of Wyoming graduate with a B.S. in Finance. In addition, he is a High Honors graduate of Western CUNA Management School. He and his wife have a daughter and three sons, and enjoy hiking, camping, and all that nature has to offer in the Cheyenne area.

Rod Austin

Senior VP Marketing

Rod comes to Blue with over 20 years of marketing experience across newspapers, ad agencies, and startups.

He is a native of Montana and moved to Northern Colorado with his family in 2019. Giving back to the community is important to Rod, which has led him to serve as a board member of the Make-A-Wish Foundation, Sustainable Business Council and Destination Missoula. As SVP of Marketing at Blue he leads the marketing, membership development, public relations and events teams in growing and expanding Blue’s presence in Wyoming and Northern Colorado.
